Obituary
Frances Dianne Foster passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 29, 2022. Born September 22, 1933 in Wawanesa to Irene and Charlie Foster. She was predeceased by her siblings, Clayton (Jackson), Bill (Jackson) and Jocelyn Cowan (nee Jackson) and her nephew Gary Jackson. Dianne is survived by 7 nieces and nephews and many grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
Dianne lived a full and rewarding life. She grew up in Wawanesa and graduated from Grace Hospital in Winnipeg with her RN diploma. She started her nursing career with the Public Health and various positions in Winnipeg and Northern Manitoba at Norway House, Churchill. Flin Flon and the Pas. Her nursing career than took her back to Wawanesa where she became joint matron with Dianne Melnychuk and where she retired.
Her love of travel took her around the world with a number of different travel friends. It started with going to Britain with her mother when she was young. She loved to travel within Canada as well as internationally. Some of the highlights were to several World Fairs including Brussels, New York and Montreal, and with her sister Jocelyn to Panama and England. She organized travel trips to casinos and theaters with her friends and would then also spend some quality shopping time in a new city. Summers were spent with various nieces and nephews who would visit Wawanesa. The big event was swimming lessons at the pool.
Dianne was very active within the community. She had a kind heart and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Some of the undertakings were for charities like the Mennonite relief fund, promoting Wawanesa at community fairs, teaching the 4H class how to cook, editing the Sipewiski
book about Wawanesa and driving people into Brandon or Winnipeg for medical treatment. She was an active member of the Anglican community.
Dianne had an active lifestyle and was involved in numerous hobbies and interests with a diverse group of friends partaking in activities such as golfing and bingo. Another pastime she enjoyed was knitting toys, afghans and clothes for her friends and relatives. She loved to play board games and cards and was a voracious reader. She enjoyed the companionship of her pets throughout life, but her favorite was Perky, her cat.
My sincerest thanks to the doctors, nursing and care staff who graciously and lovingly cared for her at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home. She was well looked after in her long stay there.
Dianne will be fondly remembered and missed by her many friends and family whose lives she brightened. May God bless her soul as she ascends into heaven to be with her mother and father and the rest of her family.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday September 22, 2022 at 4:00 pm at the Wawanesa Cemetery with Rev. Chris Evetts officiating. Everyone is welcome to attend.
