Merton-In her 77th year after a lengthy illness Elizabeth Merton lost her year-long battle with lung cancer at Bluewater Health in Sarnia on March 6th, 2020 while surrounded by her family. A non-smoker, she is survived by her husband and best friend Harold, brother Bill (Elaine) Andrew and their family – Christopher (Carol) and their children Rachael and Spencer, and daughter Paula. A sister Ruth (Len) Swales and their daughter Lisa (Ross) Stachow and their daughters Madalyn and Olivia. A brother Jim (Judith) Chamberlain and their sons Robert (Wanda) and children Amber & Alexander and Edward (Deb) and their children Ashley & Daniel as well as the children of her predeceased brother Don (Fran) Chamberlain, Karen, Kathy and David and her other predeceased brother Harvey (Sally), son Scott, daughters Catherine and Sandra and son Robert (predeceased). She is also survived by three grandchildren, Drew (Sara) Thomson, Allyse (Cale) Chapman and Avalon Merton as well as one great-granddaughter Samantha Chapman. A brother-in-law Ray (Mary-Jo) Merton and their children – Carl (Manon) and daughter Joelle, Teresa Lee (Steve) Rycroft, Angela (Karl) Seitz their children Katarina and Nickolas, Brenda Ann Vale and her sons Hunter and Colton. She will also be missed by their sons Shaun (Elaine) and Shannon (Sherri). A daughter Melanie-Jayye passed away from the same disease a year previously. She also is survived by two God Children, Linda Worden Kubiak and Mark (Jen) Worden. Following a lengthy delay because of COVID the family will be holding a celebration of her life at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway in Corunna on Sunday September 18, 2022. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.followed by a sorority service at 2:00 p.m. immediately followed by a memorial service with Rev. Bob Gibson officiating. Knight 519-862-2845
