Edna Lilyan Duff (nee Wilson) passed peacefully on December 18, 2022 in her 94th year. Beloved wife of Douglas for 62 years. Loving Mom to Mark, Elizabeth (Bruce) and Craig (Teresa). Adored Grandma to James (Katerina), Ruby, Maya, Cory and Isla. Edna was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, just days before the stock market crash. She grew up all over Manitoba surrounded by her family and friends. In her 20’s she took the brave step and moved to Toronto to join her friend Mabel. Edna found work and love at Imperial Oil and she and Douglas settled in Agincourt where they put down their first permanent roots and never moved again. She dearly loved her family and friends and celebrated life with a good sense of humour. Following retirement, Edna was an active member of the senior’s community enjoying curling, lawn bowling, many facets of art, finishing the weekly Globe and Mail crossword and learning about her Métis heritage. Our tech savvy Mom and Grandma loved to keep in touch with friends and family with emails and texts and her iPad was never far away. Predeceased by parents, Rea and Ruby Wilson, and brother Arran. She was Auntie Edna to many and is survived by sisters-in-law, Patricia, Sandra, and Ginny.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Scarborough Health Network (Birchmount location) for their extraordinary care and compassion during Edna’s brief stay. A special thank you to the ICU staff – Dr. Rose, Dr. Betts and her nurses Mary and May.
A private Celebration of Edna’s life will be held in the coming week.
