Obituary of Eddie Reimer
Our dear Dad, Grandpa and Papa was born January 5, 1932, to Henry & Susie Reimer. The Lord peacefully took him Home on the morning of May 30, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Dad gave his heart to the Lord in his early years and was baptized, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. He embraced this faith to the end.
Dad married our mother Helen on August 14, 1955. They shared 52 years together. Mom passed away February 20, 2008, leaving Dad very lonely.
Dad enjoyed working on the farm all his life, right up to 90 years of age. A month ago, he was still running the track hoe, sometimes using a ladder, making it easier to climb in. In his younger years, he was a grain farmer, had livestock and shared an excavating business with his son Randy. Working was his hobby! When he became weaker, he LOVED to pack a lunch, go to the farm, and just sit in his pickup! He was very fond of it, old though it was and thought it had the best heater ever!
Dad made many friends with neighbors, and people at places of business. He was a man of
acceptance and was a friend to everyone. He was not a wealthy man, but there was always enough money for a Peter’s milkshake! Dad often said, “Just so I have enough to pay my bills, put food on the table and share with others.” That was all that mattered to him.
Dad LOVED going fishing with his family. The grin on his face after catching a fish will be forever etched in our minds. He enjoyed many trips to Slave Lake, never imagining last July would be the last to make memories.
He loved little children and always had a piece of candy in his pocket for them. The grandchildren always looked forward to coming over for one of his famous banana milkshakes, the great-grandchildren BEGGING Papa for them. He was not a man of many words, often just sitting quietly, hardly saying a word. Sometimes we would say “Dad, I wish you would give someone else a chance to talk!”
Dad spent the end of his life at Westview Care Community in palliative care, one day short of a week. The good care he received there is much appreciated! His dear daughter-in-law Vicki passed two days before he did. We wish we could thank her again for the many meals and coffee breaks she served to Dad.
We are so thankful that God gave Dad a real assurance of peace, having made sure there was nothing standing in his way. We have no doubt in our hearts and minds he was ready to meet his Maker.
Those left to cherish fond memories are his son Randy; 2 daughters Cathy & Lorrin Baerg and Diane, all of Linden, Alberta; 7 grandchildren Carlos Reimer, Ian Reimer, Camela & Max Penner, Shanda & Myron Klassen, BJ & Mella Baerg, Cody & Erica Baerg and Nikki & Jordan Klassen also of Linden, Alberta; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Jac Reimer; brothers-in-law Lloyd Penner and Melvin Toews; sister-in-law Jean Reimer; close friends who will also miss him are Martin Klassen, Karla Hurtado, niece Bev, Jason and Ashley Cottier and many others.
We as family, would like to thank everyone for the good food, many prayers, singing and visits, all of which help to brighten these difficult days.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Eddie
