It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Darwin Eldon Miller at the age of 99 years.
Darwin is the 2nd eldest of eight children survived by Elmer and Eleanor pre deceased by his wife Betty and survived by his two sons Greg (Joanne) and Mark (Julie) along with two granddaughters Jolene (Brad) and Melissa and four great grandchildren Ryder, Daxton, Jayde and Theo.
Darwin was born in Gleichen AB and attended school in Arrowwood AB. He quit school at age 13 during the Great Depression and went to work. He joined the army on February 18, 1944 and fought in WWII as a Calgary Highlander and was later discharged on June 6, 1946.
On November 4, 1947 he married the love of his life, Betty in Claresholm AB. They moved to Taber AB to start a family and he started his career as a truck driver, hauling fuel.
From there they moved to Calgary and continued to work and raise the boys. Darwin worked for Trimac for 35 years and retired in March of 1988. Darwin and Betty travelled and enjoyed camping with their trailer. Darwin especially enjoyed spending time with his two granddaughters.
Darwin and Betty moved to Okotoks in 1998 where they continued to enjoy life and spend time with the family and friends.
At age 75 Darwin started weight lifting at which he won many awards including breaking world records.
The family would like to sincerely thank the Colonel Belcher for the great care he received for his last few years. Everyone knew Darwin and enjoyed visiting with him.
Darwin had a good heart and a kind soul and will truly be missed by many.
There will be an celebration of life held at the Snodgrass Funeral Home 200 Woodgate Road, Okotoks, AB for family and friends on Friday December 16, 2022 from 2-4.
