Daniel Joseph Graham
New Waterford
With his children by his side, Daniel Joseph Graham passed away peacefully on July 30, 2022, after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Born January 10, 1948, he was the son of the late John and Marie (Kennedy) Graham, New Waterford. He attended Mount Carmel School and was a member of Parish of St Leonard’s.
Da was a huge sports fan. As a young man, he enjoyed watching his brother Cordell play ball with the New Waterford Oland’s back in the mid-60’s. He loved watching a great game of Hockey, Football, was an Avid Blue Jays fan and, he was no stranger to a game of darts. But most of his enjoyment with sports over the years was joining “The Boys” with Gaetan’s Slow Pitch on road trips. Whether it was traveling to Halifax, PEI, Pictou and all the stops in between, great memories were made, and not forgotten.
Da was an Ironworker by trade and most recently a crossing guard with various schools around the CBRM
He is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Stephen) Palmer, Grand Bay-Westfield NB, and his son and very best friend Danny. He is also survived by his special buddy Benjamin, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Cheryl, niece Ashley and nephew Stephen Graham and grand nephew Hunter all of Saint John, NB.
Besides his parents Da was predeceased by his brother John Cordell Graham.
No words could ever express the gratitude we have for the nurses with VON. Your patience, kindness and support shown to Da during his illness will never be forgotten. A very special thank you to Dr. Saliba and the staff at the Cape Breton Cancer Centre as well as all those involved with Palliative Care. You are an extraordinary group of people, and we are thankful for your guidance and compassion.
We extend our heartfelt thanks and love to Cookie and Ann MacLeod, Lauchie and Raylene Hinchey and Billy Ellsworth for your friendship and kindness shown to Da over the years.
Cremation has taken place under the direction and care of McLellan’s Funeral Home. Per his request there will be no visitation or funeral. A private burial will take place in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Donations in Da’s memory can be made to the Tom MacNeil Cancer Patient Care Fund, Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.
