De Smet, Christiane – We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Christiane on Friday, December 23, 2022 at the Grey Bruce Health Centre, Owen Sound in her 84th year. Beloved best friend of Elizabeth Allen for 40 years, Christiane was predeceased by her daughter Michele Ollivier. Cherished grandmother of Sarah (Jai) Brown and Kevyn (Dana) Brown. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends here in Canada and Belgium. Immigrating from Belgium with nothing, Christiane became the successful small business owner of Christiane Hair Styles. She was a staple in downtown Georgetown for 44 years. After retiring to Thornbury, Christiane immersed herself in the art of Thai Chi, even becoming an instructor. It was a good life, full of love, laughter and sun rises. She will be missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life for Christiane will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 in the Trafalgar Room – Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m, with shared and treasured memories beginning at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of the donor’s choice are appreciated.
