CROWE-WHEELDON – Carol Ann, of Tiny Township, passed away peacefully with her husband, children, step-children and loving family by her side on Saturday, November 19, 2022. Carol is survived by her soul mate and husband, Ron Wheeldon. Carol’s sense of adventure and fun; her wit and her warmth made Ron fall in love with her more every day. Together they shared their lives with their biggest points of pride, their children Andrew Buligan, Wiarton, ON and Kaitlin Buligan, Burlington ON; Katelyn Wheeldon, Thunder Bay, ON and Curtis Wheeldon, Petawawa, ON. Carol was born in Peterborough to Patricia Crowe (2015) and Frederick Crowe (2005). Carol treasured her siblings Patricia Crowe, Calgary, AB; Linda Barnett (2016) and her husband Paul, Peterborough ON; Wendy Leitch, London ON; Mike Crowe and his wife Rhonda, Sooke, B.C. and Brenda Dennis and her partner Dave Bastien, Port Colborne, ON. They enjoyed many great times together including a recent trip to Alberta. Carol will be dearly missed by her parents-in-law, Ron and Dianne Wheeldon, Powassan ON and sister-in-law Lisa Taillefer and her husband Luc, Sturgeon Falls ON; along with her nieces and nephews. Carol was a woman of great strength, grace and courage. She enjoyed a lengthy career with the Halton Regional Police Service, including becoming the service’s first female Deputy Chief of Police. Carol took her role in both policing and leadership very seriously and conducted herself with the utmost integrity. She was an incredible mentor for many, and contributed to the advancement of policing in Ontario in multiple ways. After initially being diagnosed with cancer, Carol and Ron decided they wanted to prioritize making memories and enjoying life to the fullest, so Carol retired and they settled in Tiny Township where they took every opportunity to enjoy all the area had to offer, including many special times on what felt like their own private beach. Carol loved to travel and enjoyed seeing many parts of the world, a favourite being Portugal with her Ronnie. Through this time, she continued to prioritize helping others who were facing cancer through her volunteerism at Wellspring (Birmingham Gilgan House). Carol had a magnetic personality and she drew people to her wherever she went, often making new friends on her adventures. Carol loved any opportunity to dance; she loved nurturing her family and friends with good food and shared laughter; and most of all she loved being a mom. Carol’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to her health care team at the Hamilton Health Sciences Centre; to the incredible people at Wellspring and to each of you who have supported her throughout her journey. Visitation will be held at the Smith’s Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line, Burlington ON on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Carol’s life will take place at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church, 1401 Guelph Line, Burlington ON on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 11 am. In memory of Carol, the family would appreciate donations in her name to Wellspring-Birmingham Giligan House
