Bernard Georges Joseph Leblanc Monday August 29th 2022 avis de deces

The family of Bernard Georges LeBlanc, ‘Bernie’, sadly announces his passing. Bernie
died suddenly on Monday August 29, 2022, at Kingston General Hospital.
Son of Georges and Rose Leblanc of Sudbury, Ontario, Bernie was born in Timmins
Ontario on July 28, 1939.
Beloved husband of the late Ellen Joan Hutt; much loved ex-husband of the late Pauline
Spooner. Father of the late David Leblanc, also Bryan and Michael LeBlanc; Stepfather to
Suellen Bramley (Paul), and Allen Hutt (Judy).
Brother of Huguette Remple (Victor), Jeannine Toppazzini (Ron), Roger LeBlanc, Rachel
Aubut (Yvan), Robert LeBlanc (Helen), Richard LeBlanc, and the late Roland LeBlanc
(Betty).
Bernie was a well-educated, highly intelligent, charismatic and humorous man. He grew
up in Sudbury Ontario, where his skill at hockey was well known. He earned his
undergraduate degree from Laurentian University, and master’s degree from the
University of Toronto. He taught high school in Espanola Ontario in the late 1960’s and
early 70’s and in High Prairie Alberta, from 1981-1999.
Aside from this, Bernie was a very successful businessman, owning and operating a
successful real-estate company in Espanola Ontario for most of the 1970’s, and a pizza
shop in High Prairie Alberta for several years in the 1980’s.
After retiring, Bernie and his beloved late wife Ellen, spent winters in Chapala Mexico
for many years, where they made many friends and enjoyed life tremendously. Both retired
permanently to Belleville Ontario in 2019.
In his early life, Bernie was very dedicated to the game of hockey, and was especially
proud that the Laurentian University Hockey Team which he played on in the early 1960’s,
won the Provincial Championship, playing as the team was, against better-funded and
more established teams from Southern Ontario. He continued playing and coaching hockey
for most of his life.
Bernie was known for his humorous, outgoing character. He loved talking to people and
establishing new friendships, telling stories, teaching snippets of the multiple languages he
spoke, being kind to children. This resulted in him touching numerous lives and eliciting
many laughs.
Despite his intelligence, education, worldly-wisdom and many accomplishments, Bernie
was a down-to-earth person who accepted people from all walks of life. He will be missed
by many. May he rest in peace.
