It is with heavy hearts that we announce the
passing of Arthur Lawrence «Art» Fitch, age 96, of
Kentville, who passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022 in Orchard
Villa Long Term Care Home, Middleton. Born in Kentville, he was a son
of the late John and Annie (Legge)
Fitch.
Art worked at the Capitol and Paramount
Theatres in Kentville as well as the Valley Drive-In as the
projectionist for all three. He was also self-employed, working out of
the Kentville post office for their parcel service. Art was a people
person and loved to talk and tell stories, especially jokes. He was a
member of the former United Church of St. Paul & St. Stephen,
Kentville, and a life member of the Kentville Lions
Club.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years,
Vera (Hall); daughters, Dawn Fitch (Mike Wright), Coldbrook; Alison
Fitch, Lawrencetown; Janice (Ken) Eastman, Kentville; grandson,
Bennett Arthur Eastman; sister-in-law, Pat Hall, Alberta; nieces,
nephews, extended family and friends. He was the last surviving member
of his immediate family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a
son-in-law, Glenn Langley; sisters, Eleanor MacLeod and Stella Legge;
brothers, George, Bob and Frank.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no
visitation or funeral service at this time. Donations in memory may be
made to the Annapolis Valley VON or the Valley Cardiac Rehab Society.
The family would like to thank Dr. David LaPierre, EHS Middleton, and
the VON. And a special thank you to all of the staff at Orchard Villa,
Middleton, for their exceptional care and compassion and for always
treating our parents like members of their own families. Arrangements
