Ann’s Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Ann (Marie) MacArthur (nee Campbell) announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, NL on Saturday, November 26th, 2022 at the age of 75 years.
Born in Loch Lomond NL, Marie was the daughter of the late John and Mary Campbell (nee O’Quinn). She was also predeceased by her husband, Sears MacArthur; father and mother-in-law, Allan and Mary MacArthur; brothers and sisters: Stella Campbell, Johnny Campbell, Malcom (Mildred) Campbell and Jessie (Lewis) MacArthur; brothers and sisters-in-law: Annie Dunn-Campbell, Frank (Margaret) Mac Arthur, Jimmy (Rose) MacArthur, Loretta (Bernie) MacNeil, Martin MacArthur, Margaret (Leo) Cormier, John (Georgina) MacArthur, George MacArthur, Gordon MacArthur, Dan MacArthur and Cecilia (Aiden) MacIssac.
She leaves behind her children: John Allan MacArthur, Gordon (Lynn) MacArthur, Dwayne MacArthur and Shelley MacArthur (Dennis Strickland); grandchildren: Kayla (Justin), Stephanie (Morgan), Lucas (Samantha), Dylan, Kyle, Matthew, and Cameron; great-grand children: Connor and Easton: Lucas and Matthew’s mom Debbie. She will be missed by her siblings: Joan (Bob) Campbell and Freddy Campbell; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth MacArthur and Rhoda Young; special friends: Margie Brake and Shirley MacInnis, plus a very large circle of nieces, nephews and cousins near and far.
For the past 3 years Marie resided at Gateway Apartments, Port Aux Basques, where she made friendships that were more like family. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Marie. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. Marie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. The family would like to take the time to extend their thanks to Marie’s home care workers, Kelly and Hayley, as well as Dr. Thomas and his team at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre and the staff of MacKenzie Ambulance for the care and compassion given to Marie.
In keeping with Marie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a Rosery at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Upper Ferry on Sunday, December 11 at 7:30 pm. The funeral mass will take place on Monday, December 12 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Father A. Prakash. Interment will follow at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery.
