Obituary
Alice Spode (nee Mielke)
Passed with peace and grace on August 24, 2022 at the Valleyview Health Centre after a very brief illness at the age of 89 years.
Alice was born in Lichtenraeumung District of Leipe, West Prussia -now Poland on July 27, 1933.
Alice is survived by her son Rolf (wife Jodi), granddaughters Christi Friesen, (husband Kelly), Jennifer Deschenes (husband Macklin), Stephanie Spode and lifelong friend Mary Wilson who cared for Alice with much love and respect. Daughter in law Heather Spode.
Alice was blessed with two great grandchildren Kohlton and Mackenzie Friesen.
Alice was predeceased by her parents Adolf and Olga Mielke, brother Alfred, husband Herbert (2013), grandson David (2014), and son Gordon (2020).
Alice and Herbert were married on April 10, 1955 and immigrated to Canada from Germany via freighter ship to start a new life together in1956. Alice and husband Herb settled in the Valleyview area where they homesteaded and raised their family. Alice remained in Valleyview enjoying her retirement at Red Willow Lodge until her passing.
Alice was known for her involvement with the Valleyview Farmers Market for many years and became well known to many in the community for her baking and crafts.
A service will be held at Valleyview Evangel Pentecostal Church with internment at the Valleyview and District cemetery.
