Bert went to join his Lord and Savior on October 30, 2022 at the age of 97.
He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, and his loving wife Lavina, three grand children and two sons-in-law.
Dad was born to Henry and Mary Enns on January 14, 1925, in Morris, MB. He served his country during the war as a cook in a camp in Dryden, ON. Dad eventually moved to Alberta and worked on different farms. It was at one of these farms where he met the love of his life, later to be married, Lavina Schartner. It was on July 21, 1945, that they said their vows to each other. Dad took his apprenticeship for journeyman electrician at SAIT in Calgary while employed at Hydel Electric in Three Hills, AB. Later he became a parts person, selling Massey Ferguson parts at Linden Machine Works. In 1965, Dad purchased the automotive repair shop and service station in Linden. Dad’s life was changed forever after an automobile accident in 1972. Unable to keep the garage operating, Dad’s career changed again and he opened a small appliance repair shop. In 1977, Dad and Mom purchased the Poplar Grove Motel in Salmon Arm, BC. This business and a variety of other work endeavors, kept Dad occupied until eventual retirement and moving back to Linden in 1995. Last year Dad and Mom celebrated 75 years of marriage.
Left to cherish his memory are nine children: Shirley Linderman, Sharon Dunbar, Bonnie Enns, Viola Wohlgemuth, Brenda Toews, Gilbert (Amy) Enns, Ken (Angie) Enns, Ronnie Enns and Micheal Enns; 15 Grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren; Brother Dennis Roy (Marg) Enns, 3 sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The last few years of Dad’s life were spent at the Westview Care Community, Linden AB. The Family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the exceptional care Dad received from the nurses and staff.
