Albert’s Obituary
Albert J. Sauvageau was born at home on the farm, on December 10, 1933 to Auréa (Champagne) and Philippe Sauvageau, where he lived with his 6 siblings, until his marriage to Yvette Guénette on July 27, 1955 at the age of 22.
Albert and Yvette spent their first winter in a lumber camp. Upon leaving the camp in April 1956 he found a job in Grimshaw at Mercier Motors as a truck driver hauling fuel later becoming an apprentice mechanic. Two months later, his daughter Angele was born. He always proudly said that he had named her as she looked like an angel. Eleven months later his second daughter Dianne was born on April 29, 1957. Doris was born on April 3, 1959 and on September 11, 1963 they welcomed their 4th and last child, Vivianne.
In 1968, the family was moved to Falher where they took over the family farm when his father Philippe decided to retire. For the next 10 years, Albert worked the farm along with his family and his brother Raymond who lived across the road.
In 1978, he achieved his life-long dream of owning a business. After selling the farm to a neighbor, Albert built a new home in Falher and bought into and established Prairie Automotive (UAP) in Falher with Bob Paquette of High Prairie as his business partner.
In 1993, the store and house where sold and Albert and Yvette purchased a travel trailer where they enjoyed their much deserved retirement, spending winters in Arizona and summers at 5 Star Golf resort.
In 2002, Albert and Yvette moved to Westbank (BC) where they made many friends and resided until 2016, where they moved back to Falher to reside at the Villa Beauséjour in Falher.
Throughout his lifetime, Albert was very involved in various community activities and boards such as the Knights of Columbus, Holy Family School board in Grimshaw, Curling Club, Ski Hill, the housing board in Westbank, Town Counsellor in Falher to name just a few. He was a man who always wanted to stay busy and engaged in life.
While in hospital, he reminisced about his many memories, his pride and love for his wife and children, the many opportunities he’d had to travel and the treasured friends he had made. He was grateful for having lived such a full and happy life and was anxious for the next chapter of his life where he would be reunited with his daughter Vivianne, his siblings, parents and many friends and family who preceased him.
