Margaret Anne
(Calkin) MacFarlane, 89, of Monarch Hall, Riverview and formerly of
Moncton, passed away peacefully within the comforts of her residence
and family at her side on Sunday, May 1, 2022. She was the daughter of
the late Henry and Maude Calkin.
Anne was born
in Moncton, NB and attended Moncton High School where she was the
awarded the Governor General’s’ Medal for highest
marks in her graduating class. She attended Acadia
University where she earned her Bachelor of Secretarial Science
degree. Her stay in Wolfville also marked the beginning of a
life long romance with the love of her life, Lloyd «Rocky»
MacFarlane, a fellow student at the time. They married in
1952 and enjoyed a wonderful life together until Rocky’s
passing in 2019, almost 67 years.
Anne was a
dedicated volunteer in the community including leading the Salvation
Army’s Red Shield Appeal for many years. She was
also a member of the Sir Charles G. D. Roberts chapter of the
IODE. Anne and Rocky were devoted members of First United
Baptist Church in Moncton. An accomplished bridge player,
Anne was a member of many bridge clubs over the years, a passion also
shared by Rocky.
After
Rocky’s retirement in in 1985, he and Anne spent many years
travelling to over 50 countries around the world. Anne was
very proud of the artifacts and prints she discovered through the many
travels.
Most of all,
Anne adored her family including her children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren. Anne will be missed by her sons, John (Mary Lou
Crowley) of London, ON and David (Linda) of Courtice, ON;
daughter-in-law, Margie MacFarlane of Wolfville, NS; precious
grandchildren, Laura, Melissa, Matthew, Blake, Emily, Michael, Andrew,
David and Katrina (Matthew); cherished great grandchildren, Logan and
Ethan; brother Hinson Calkin (Marie) and nephew Bruce
Calkin.
In addition to
her parents, Anne was predeceased by her husband Lloyd
«Rocky», and son,
Mark.
Visitation at
Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on
Thursday, May 5 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm followed by a private
funeral service. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery at a
later date.

Anne’s home for the past three
years.
