Victoria Jeanie Jean Litster August 4 1923 April 9 2021 avis de deces

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Victoria Jeanie (Jean) Litster on April 9, 2021. Jean was born in Victoria, B.C. on August 4, 1923 in a small house on Bay Street by the warmth of an open hearth. Jean was predeceased by her husband Fred, sisters Muriel and Agnes. She leaves to mourn her saddened daughter, Glenda Perry, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She attended George Jay, Central Middle and Victoria High schools. When her father passed away from a workplace accident, she left Victoria High mid grade 12 to work at the General Warehouse (Spencer’s Stores) on Government Street. She later embarked on a career as a dental hygienist. Throughout the 1940’s she enjoyed attending dances with wartime sailors. She was always at her mom’s side through those challenging times. After marriage and upon the arrival of her daughter Glenda, she dedicated her life to family. For many years she cared for her husband, Fred, who suffered from various health conditions.
Mom lived in the family Gordon Head home until 2010 when she moved into long term care. From August 2012 she has lived an activity filled life under the love and care umbrella of Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion. Upon every visit she would say “it’s lovely and quiet here at night and I had a good sleep”. That was her main concern when she went into care that the peace and quiet evenings for her were fulfilled. It is with eternal gratitude to the entire staff of Oak Bay Kiwanis for everything they provided Jean, from one-on-one loving touch to activities and lovely meals. Mom befriended a lovely resident there and to see the two of them have such a close bond and laugh filled friendship was a true blessing.
At Jean’s request there will be no service. She will be laid to rest at Royal Oak Burial Park beside her husband on a future warm summer day. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made to Kiwanis Foundation www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/14078 or to a charity of one’s choice. Sincere thanks and gratitude to McCall Gardens for their compassionate and superior assistance.
Have a good night’s sleep tonight mom and a good day tomorrow.
