Obituary of Velva Jeanne Woodstock
Velva Jeanne Woodstock (nee Joyce) was born March 9th, 1949. She was a great many things to many people. Velva was the daughter of Jeanne and Gordon Joyce, loving wife of her husband and partner of 46 years, Bob Woodstock who predeceased her almost 10 years ago, sister to Julie, Bobby, and Bruce, loving mother to Tammy, Juli and Roberta, adored Hunna of Daniel, Taylor, Lauryn, Parker, Megan, and Paige, Aunt and great aunt to many, many nieces and nephews.
She was a Native Residential school survivor of the 1950’s, a proud and active Member of the Native Ladies Association, a valued employee of Sears Canada for 30 plus years. Mum’s employer allowed her to relocate from Toronto to the Quinte area, where she has lived on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory both as a child, and in her latter adult years, where she chose to have her final home built before succumbing to her ferocious battle with cancer. Velva passed on November 26th, 2021 at 2:41 am at the Stan Klemencic Care Centre in Belleville Ontario.
Family and friends will be received at Smith & Son Funeral Home on Sunday, November 28, 2021 between the hours of 1:00- 4:00 p.m. In keeping with Velva`s wishes cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Stan Klemencic Care Centre in memory of Velva Woodstock would be so greatly appreciated.
Due to COVID restrictions we kindly asked that family and friends who will be attending the visitation be respectful of one another and practice physical distancing outside and inside the funeral home and face masks are required.
