Obituary
Thomas Carl Zolinski
Tom passed away on the morning of June 17, 2021 while in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon.
Tom was born on August 11, 1933 in Wakaw, SK. He was predeceased by his parents Carl and Ann Zolinski and his sister June (Bob) Cholodnuik. Tom will be sadly missed by his loving wife Jeannine Zolinski, his children Renee (Michael) Ward, Dwight (Loretta) Zolinski, and Doug Zolinski. Also by his grandchildren, Bailey (Scott) Allport, Alison (Jake Moore) Zolinski, Chelsea Zolinski, and Dallas Zolinski and one great grandchild, Maverick Allport. Tom is survived by his brother Walter (Francis) Zolinski, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Ralph and Gladys Court and Chris and Jenn Aalbers.
Tom’s early life was on the farm but his work life began at the family garage in Meath Park eventually becoming a journeyman mechanic. After marrying Jeannine (Boudreau) in February of 1963, they moved to Kinistino where he worked for many years at Soulier Motors and saw their family grow by three with Renee born in late 1963 and Dwight and Doug arriving 11 months later. In 1971 the family moved to Prince Albert when Tom started at the pulp mill in Stores. A few years later the opportunity came along for him to become his own boss when he took over the operation of the pulp mill cafeteria. This was just the start of his entrepreneurial career. Along with the cafeteria he purchased various rental properties in the Prince Albert area. In 1978 he followed a loose family tradition by entering into the hotel business where he was involved in a partnership that built and operated the Confederation Inn in Saskatoon. After the sale of the hotel, Tom found time to open a pub, built a log cabin at Candle Lake and new home for himself and Jeannine. He became heavily involved with the Knights of Columbus and their various charitable endeavours as well as Habitat for Humanity. He was always willing to help and lend a hand to all who asked.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Cathedral of the Holy Family (123 Nelson Rd.) in Saskatoon with Fr. Deyre Azcuna as Celebrant.
