Thomas E. Samms
1939 – 2021
It is with extreme sadness that the family of Thomas Edgar Samms announce his death at the age of 82. He passed away peacefully at his home on March 22, 2021.
Born in Newfoundland on March 3, 1939 to Susan and Arthur Samms, he lived a full, incredible life. He retired from the Air Force in 1979, and he once owned a furniture restoration company where he spent a large amount of his time. He also once built a fishing boat with his own two hands that he and his wife then sailed to Newfoundland and back, despite how crazy his family thought he was for doing so. He was a tough, loving man with a great sense of humour, and full of jokes. Game shows were his favourite thing to watch on television.
He was predeceased by his parents, Susan and Arthur Samms; as well as his brothers: Edwin, Llewelyn and Gordon; and sisters: Marcy and Doris.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anne Samms; his son, James (Patty) Samms of Fredericton; daughter, Cathy (Michael) MacDonald of Miramichi; his grandchildren: Melissa (Chad) MacDonald of Edmonton, Alberta, Harlie Dick of Miramichi, Ashley (Lee) Matthews of Halifax, and Adam Samms of Fredericton. He is also survived by his pretty much adopted daughter, Angie MacColl (Mark); and his sister, Audrey (Wally) Preston of Pynns Brook, Newfoundland. Along with his grandchildren he is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Cailey and Riley Tkachuk and Shea Matthews; his nieces and nephews; along with many other loving family members and life long friends.
His family would like to say a special thank you to his many Extra-Mural Nurses, and Marilyn Matchett who helped to make the last years of life comfortable and enjoyable.
There will be no visitation by request. A PRIVATE funeral service for family only will be held at Adams Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arthritis Association and/or the Dementia and Alzheimer’s associations in his memory.
