Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Sylvia June (Murrins) Noftell on February 11, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Saint John, NB on January 9, 1953 to the late Frederick and Ruth (Worden) Murrins.
Sylvia graduated from Simonds High School and was one of the first members of her family to go to college, where she trained to be a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was so proud of her nursing abilities and enjoyed a lovely career with Loch Lomond Villa for over 25 years. She was a compassionate woman who cared deeply for everyone and extended that to the care of her patients. She made lots of friends at the Villa with her coworkers. She was a chatty person who loved to find out what was going on in people’s lives and keep in touch. Sylvia raised her two daughters, and they formed such a close bond that they were more like friends than mother and daughter. Her grandchildren will always fondly remember sitting at her table to do homework while she was baking up something wonderful. Sylvia had a penchant for yard sales and secondhand shops and filled her closets to the brim with clothing. She always liked to look put together and exuded confidence when she felt she looked just right. She liked a lot of things, but family was the absolute most important aspect of her life, and she will be so deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Steven Harper) Noftell and Melissa (Roy) Trecartin; 5 adored grandchildren, Grace, Gabriel, Rose, Angel and Bella; brothers, Jeffrey (Lori), Gordon (Linda) and Douglas Murrins; sisters, Cynthia (Luc), Colleen (Austin),and Barbara, beloved kitty, Starr; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Paul Orme; brothers, Michael, John, Luke and Richard and sister, Rosalie as well as her cat Booboo of 18 years.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Due to these uncertain times and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a private family service will take place. For those who wish, donations in Sylvia’s memory to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
