Obituary for Sylvia Baker
After a graciously brief illness and just days short of her 93rd birthday, Sylvia Baker passed away on February 10, 2021. Loving mother of Linda Carolan (Bob Ciprick), Ronald (Barbara) and Raymond (Carol). Much-loved grandmother to Bryan and Matthew. Predeased by oldest daughter Shirley (1970) and sister and brother-in-law Helen and Bert Ross of Nobleton.
Born in King City to parents Sydney and Lila Douglas (later Lila Depew), Sylvia ventured to Toronto, attended hairdressing school and made her way to Ancaster where she raised her family.
Sylvia had many fond memories of friends Layman Ritchie, Bill Ascot and many others from her years in Ancaster, Richmond Hill, Pigeon Lake, Burlington and finally Dundas.
Thank you to Dr. Daniel Sapir and the exceptional team at the Kidney Care Clinic at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital and for the sensitive care at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton during those final few days. For those wishing to remember Sylvia with a donation, gifts to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the CFL (Canadian Lymphedema Framework) would be appreciated. A private family service is arranged.
