Susan Caroline Steadman
1962-2021
Susan Caroline (Jess) Steadman, 58, of
Kentville, passed away after an extended illness on Sunday, January
31, 2021 in the QEII-Halifax Infirmary, Halifax. Born in Smith Falls,
ON she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Lorna (Hiltz) Jess. Susan
was one of the most kind, loving, caring and giving people. She was
always the first to offer help to others, and there was never a time
that she would turn away the opportunity to help people if she
could. She was most content and happy when she knew that the
people she loved were okay. Susan will be greatly missed by her son,
Joseph Jess; stepson, Peter (Vicki) Steadman; step grandchildren, Bart
and Tyisha; sisters, Reta (Stanley) Watton and Kim (Charles) Welton;
niece, Crystal; great nephew, Byron; and great-great niece and nephew,
Linden and Lillee-Mae. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased
by her loving husband, Peter Steadman (2020); son in infancy,
Christopher Graves; daughter in infancy, Lisa Graves; sister, Dale
Jess; and nephew, Richard Watton. In keeping with Susan’s
wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. A
private memorial service will be held at a later date. For those who
wish, donations in memory may be made to your local food bank, the
Heart and Stroke Foundation of NS, Diabetes Canada or the Canadian
Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to
the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville. On-line condolences and inquiries may be directed

There I
was sitting, penny in hand,
By the well, where wishes were
to come true.
I knew
what I wanted,
I knew
what I needed,
With my
one penny, I’d wish only for you.
I would
give my own eyes,
To see
your face.
My ears,
to hear your voice.
I would
give the last beat of my heart,
If it
were my choice.
I knew it
was just a penny,
A well,
couldn’t bring you back… I was aware.
But in
that moment, with a penny in my hand,
Your
presence was with me, I swear.
As I
threw the penny into the water,
I knew I
heard your voice say,
«I
love you so much my sweetheart,
I hope
you know that I’d wished that I could
stay.
But life
goes on even though it hurts,
Please
know that we will never be apart,
No, a
penny will never bring me back to you,
But I
will always be here in your heart.»
