July 19, 1967 – September 5, 2021
Born July 19th, 1967, passed away unexpectedly on September 5th, 2021, at the age of 54. Sheldon was predeceased by his grandparents Robert (Alma) Favel, and John and Clara Bellegarde, his parents Lawrence “Walls” Bellegarde and Catherine Akapew, sister Karen Lavoie, brother in laws James Maurice and Gary Gordon, nephews Kyle Pinay, and Sheldon Bitternose, and his best friend, Bear. Sheldon is survived by his daughter Heavenlee Hozempa (Andrew), son Michael Akapew (Bobbi Isbister), adopted son Kevin Quewezance his siblings Nadine, Maureen, Lawrence, Laureen and Delanne (Donnie), two Grandchildren, Bentley and Ollie. Sheldon is also survived by his adopted family members from Nekaneet First Nation – Lena Buffalocalf, Leonard Mosquito, Joe Buffalocalf, Wes Daniels, Ed Buffalocalf, and Barbara Buffalcalf, his Starblanket Cree Nation adopted family – Verna Starr (Brian), Denita, Joanne (Gary), Cindy, Sonia (Chief Mike Starr), and from Little Black Bear First Nation – sister Beverly Bellegarde (Cal McNabb), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Wake will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday September 9, 2021 at the Little Black Bear Community Centre, Little Black Bear First Nation. Funeral Service will be held the following day, Friday September 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the same location. He will be laid to rest in the West End Cemetery, Little Black Bear First Nation.
