Obituary of Ruth Emma Simpson
(nee Shantz)
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ruth. She joined her Lord on Saturday, June 12, 2021, in her 97th year.
Ruth was born to Allen and Luella Shantz on September 28, 1924. Married for almost 74 years, Ruth leaves to mourn her husband Ross, their daughter Lois Simpson (Joe Van Horn), granddaughters JoAnn (Nick) Stempien of Alberta and Jennelle (Dwalu) Thomson of California, great-grandchildren Nicholas and Josianne, and Emiline and Ethan, along with sisters/brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents and by her sister, Phyllis Penny.
Outside of church activities, Ross and Ruth enjoyed years of travelling, square dancing, and numerous visits with family in Alberta.
The past several years were enhanced by the selfless contributions of Gaye Allen, Greznia Klos, Joanne Dahmer, and would certainly have been impossible without the love and support of Debbie and Steve Ritter.
The family would also like to extend gratitude to the staff of Bayshore Home Health, Grand River Hospital 6 South, and Innisfree House Kitchener.
A private funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. EDT. For anyone wishing to join via the livestream, please visit historicstpauls.ca and select the YouTube link.
