Octeau, Royal Andrew Michael

Roy passed away peacefully at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital after a lengthy illness. Beloved husband and best friend of Betty Ann Octeau (nee Orton) for 58 years. Loving father of Karen Adamowicz (Michael) and David (Patricia) of Ottawa. Loving grandpa to Matthew Adamowicz of Ottawa and Andrew Baenziger of Saskatoon. Dear son of the late Michel Octeau and late Olive Octeau-Beauchamp (nee Martin). Predeceased by siblings Robert Octeau (Carmen), Albert Octeau (Rita), Carmen (Sam Macrillo), Emelda Octeau, Marcel Octeau, Kathleen (Patrick MacMahon) and Shirley (Jim Waller). Survived by and loved by many nieces and nephews.
Roy was born, raised and lived in Ottawa. He attended École élémentaire catholique Saint-François-d’Assise and then attended the High School of Commerce before entering the workforce. His first job was as an office assistant at Crawley Films and later as an usher at the Elmdale Theatre where he met his future wife, Betty Ann. Upon leaving the theatre, Roy then embarked on a long career in the accounting department of Independent Fuels Coal & Lumber Company (later acquired by Petro Canada). After taking early retirement, Roy became active in the Gloucester Handicaps Association and High Horizons. Roy’s laid back nature, his sense of humour, his smile, his laugh, his kindness, and his generosity will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. A visitation will be held at Hulse, Playfair & McGarry – St. Laurent Chapel, 1200 Ogilvie Road, Ottawa on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. All those who wish to attend must RSVP on the funeral home website below the obituary and show proof of full vaccination when they arrive. A funeral service will be held at Epiphany Anglican Church, 1290 Ogilvie Road, Ottawa on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 11am. Burial to follow at Pinecrest Cemetery. Special thanks to his caring team: Dorothy, Chrissy, Annie and Brianna and the palliative care staff at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital for the wonderful care given to Roy.
