Roy O. Drinnen – went home to be with his Lord and Savior and to be a special Angel watching over his family on Friday, June 4, 2021. He worked and retired from Knox Plating Works after 49 years of service and was co-owner of Abloom Florist for over 37 years. Roy attended Christ United Methodist Church and was a member of Paw Paw Hollow Baptist Church and the Whittle Springs Golf Association. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William H. and Irene Drinnen; and William’s second wife, Lola Styles Drinnen; brothers, Eulis, Haskell, Jack, and Kenneth Drinnen; and sister, Margaret Kelly. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Hazel Drinnen; children, Gary Drinnen, Janet (Greg) Massengill, Lesa (Daniel) Kerbo and Diane (Tim) Storm; grandchild, Kacie Massengill; brother, Bill (Marilyn) Drinnen; sister, Shirley Turner; sister-in-law, Carolyn Drinnen; special additions, Tina (Dennis) Lakin, Kaileigh Lakin Cash, Jodee Ferguson, Wendy Witt and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Bridges Funeral Home. As per the CDC guidelines, masks will be required to attend the visitation, if you have not been vaccinated. The family will gather at Bridges Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at 10:00 AM and travel in procession for an 11:00 AM graveside service at Eastview Memorial Gardens officiated by Rev. Mark Kilbourne. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eddie Floyd, Steve Drinnen, Jimmy Moore, Jimmy Arthur, Lewis Arthur, Alan Beal and all the former employees of Knox Plating Works and his friends at Whittle Springs Golf Course. The family would like to offer a special “Thank you” to Dr. Doug Leahy, Dr. Kyle McCoy, Dr. David Harrison, UT Hospice and especially his nurse, Stephanie Estes and caregivers, Crystal and Courtney Dunn.
