Obituary of Ross Lamont Richardson
The Richardson family is sad to announce the passing of Ross Lamont Richardson of Ottawa. He died peacefully Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the age of 83. Ross was born October 31, 1938 in Winnipeg and raised in Ottawa on Parkdale Avenue. He married Gwendolen (Wendy) DuVernet on August 17 1964 and they had three children, Christina Louise, Kenneth Ross, and Peter John. He was predeceased by his parents Herbert and Elizabeth (Betty) (nee Fergusson) Richardson.
Ross is survived by his wife Wendy, daughter Christina (Denise Proulx), son Ken (Judy Meltzer), son Pete (Emma Stodel), and siblings Carol, Gail (Don Jennings), and Nancy.
Ross worked for the Ottawa Public School Board teaching History and later became a Principal, retiring in 1995. As parenting responsibilities eased, Ross cycled the world with Wendy – visiting New Zealand, Europe, and Nova Scotia (a favourite). Hiking trips all over Canada with the whole family are remembered fondly.
A Small Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road). Friends and family are welcome to join us anytime between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. Proof of vaccination will be required upon entry.
