Ross William Thomas
Passed away peacefully on July 3, 2021 at the age of 90 at the Almonte General Hospital. Loving father of Joanne, Chris, Donna and Andrea. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Lindsay, Jesse, Daniel, Philippe and Patrick, 8 great-grandchildren as well as his sisters Margaret Lester and Elaine Witchell and their families. Ross was predeceased by his wife of over 63 years Vera, and parents Fred and Vera Lester. Special thank you to the staff of Orchard View By The Mississippi. No visitation or service will take place; a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a monetary donation may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Ross was a family man who was married to his wife and friend Vera for 63 years. He was athletic and full of personality! Often spending time outdoors, he loved to downhill ski and preferred to ski the moguls rather than any other terrain. He also enjoyed sailing a Laser and wind surfer for many years. Spending time with his family, planning vacations and weekends that often included climbing mountains like Owl’s Head and Mount Washington were some of his favourite things to do. Later in life he would frequently be found on the golf course. You could usually see Ross with his loyal dog by his side as people would stop to talk to him on his daily walks. Ross had a great sense of humour; often telling people jokes and making them laugh. He has two sisters with beautiful families that he enjoyed keeping in touch with. He will be missed!
