Ronald Anthony Joseph Fultz Jr 1953 2021

Obituary of Ronald Anthony Joseph Fultz Jr.
We, the family of Ronald Fultz Jr., Thorburn, are saddened to announce his passing at age 67, on Monday June 7, 2021 after a brief illness, surrounded by his family, at his favorite place, Eden Lake.
Left behind to mourn is Barb, his wife of 45 years. His children, Richard (Vicki) Fultz, Amanda (Joey) Fitzpatrick, and Jennifer (Travis) Grant. Grandchildren Daniel (Tage), Hunter, Morgan (Robert), Xena and Kaiya. Sadly, Ronnie will not be here to welcome his first great-grand child to Daniel (Tage) Fitzpatrick.
Ron is also survived by his sister’s Joyce Humble (John), Shirley Kennedy Graham, and Helen Fultz. Also survived by Brother in laws, Mike (Ardy) Shindruk, Jim (Kathy) Shindruk and sister in-law Cathy (Martin) Bedard as well as many nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Ronald Sr., (Helen) Fultz, and a brother Georgie in infancy.
Over the years, dad cultivated and grew many relationships from his loyal customers of his beloved business, Ron’s Small Engine & Repair Shop. Above all things in his life, dad’s main passion was his family. He loved weekly Sunday dinners at their home, where the walls would ring of love and laughter as everyone enjoyed Barb’s homecooked feasts. Summer would bring boat rides from their cottage on Eden Lake and his newly acquired passion for four-wheeling. He took great satisfaction in others who came and enjoyed his special place on the lake, as he wanted everyone to feel at home and welcomed them with open arms.
Dad had a few special friendships that he truly cherished. Dale Webb of Thorburn and dad’s friendship of over forty years, grew over snowmobile runs, cold home-made rum, and Dale’s stove top cooking. Dad considered Dale, the little brother he never had. There was not anything they would not do for each other, at the drop of a hat. Dale’s help in the yard during dad’s last weeks was invaluable.
Jim Blackwood and dad had a friendship that was more than 60 years. It began with Ronnie breaking the tip, off Jim’s brand-new Zorro sword when they were just kids, a cherished memory to this day. Their special bond would have them play music in bands for years. They enjoyed weekly suppers followed by heading to the Crusher’s games, was an event that trumped everything on Thursday nights. Jim would bring supper faithfully every second week until the last few weeks when Ronnie was sick. Then of course there was the NHL games where Jim would root for Boston, and Ronnie for Toronto.
Ronnie will be dearly missed at the lake by his neighbor and beer buddy, Stewart (Stu) Rogers. They bonded over building things, boating, and arguing over who was right.
Dad’s passion for music placed him as lead guitarist in Fox Fire band for 20 years, then back in the saddle for a few” reunion” gigs with his other “brothers”, Joe Fraser, Mike Shindruk, Rabbit (Mike Quinn) and Kevin Lamey.
Out of all the special friendships to mention, the most valuable one is the one held between Ron, Barb, Margie & Gerry Stewart, and Mike & Ardy Shindruk. Fox Fire Dances, lake weekends, Saturday night Rummoli games in the winter, sneak away weekends in Truro, and any excuse to go for a dinner, were mainstays for over 30 years. Through everything there was an unbreakable bond with just the six of them. Words will never be able to express the love and appreciation that this special friendship grew into. Dad always said family was everything and considered Margie & Gerry family. Gerry was his brother, and Margie was Barb’s other sister. He will surely miss afternoon swims in their pool on a scorching day after working in the shop, and most of all their famous July 1st pool party.
Special thanks to Debbie Williams and the Palliative Care team as well as Dr Kwasnik and Dr. Horton.
Much appreciation to the VON and most importantly dads favorite nurse who showed him upmost compassion and treated him so well, Stacy MacDonald, RN.
In honor of Ron and Jim’s friendship, donations may be made, and would be appreciated to support Hope for Wildlife. A private celebration of Ron’s life will be held later in the summer.
