MORRIS, RONALD – It is with equals parts of sadness and joy that we celebrate the life of Ronald Morris, who passed away on October 31 in his 86th year. Survived by three sisters, Theresa (Hurtubise), Claire (the late Joe Noonan) and Magdalen (John Belcastro). Predeceased by his wife Fran Rogers, parents Denis Morris and Aline (St. Denis) and brother Lindsay (Thérèse). A proud “Poppa” to Katie and William, uncle Ron was beloved and worshipped by his 19 nieces and nephews and all their children whom he doted on endlessly. Born in Kapuskasing, Ontario, he would graduate from Notre Dame high school in Welland and spent many years in Ottawa before settling in the Niagara Region. After years as a civil servant, he returned to his true passion as an educator where his empathy and enthusiasm still inspires hundreds of his students. Thanks to his irrepressible spirit, humour and charm, Ron never met a stranger. An accomplished curler, his sporting passions were the Ottawa Roughriders, San Francisco Giants and whatever NHL team his nephew Adam was playing on. Amongst the many places he visited, Carmel, California was indelibly etched in his heart. Many thanks to his second family, Loreto, Maria and the gang at Swiss Chalet. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that you spread some love, warmth and humour just as Ron did each and every day of his life. A private family service will be held at the H. L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland.
