It is with great sadness that the family of the late Robert Henry H. Hamel announce his unexpected passing on December 12, 2021 at the Long Term Care Home, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, at the age of 87. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his spouse, Marguerite. Children Josephine, Cynthia (Doug), Jean (Dave), Cora (Ted). Grandchildren, Tanya, Toni-Michelle (Rox), Kristen (Michael), Pauline, Matthew (Ashley), Stephanie (Greg), Samantha (Jeremy), 16 great grandchildren, Sister – Elsie Johnson, St. Johns, NL, and a large circle of nieces and nephews
Predeceased by his son Ricky McLean, his mother, Miriam (Williams) Hamel, Father Arthur Hamel, brothers and sisters, Sampson, John, Edgar, Edmund, Clarice, Daphne, Jane. His father-in-law George Michelin and brother-in-law Raymond Michelin.
Friends and family may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Thursday, December 16 from 7-9 pm and on Friday, December 17 at 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 2 pm at the United Church in Goose Bay with interment to follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Following Covid-19 regulations masks and proof of vaccination will be required for entry into the funeral home.
As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the HVGB Ground Search and Rescue Team.
