Obituary
Robert John David Lemarquand (Bob or Rob to some) was born on February 20, 1965 in Victoria, BC.
Growing up in Victoria Bob fondly recalled some of his best memories as riding bikes on the streets, jam sessions, fishing and swimming with family and friends. He later moved to the Sunshine Coast and spent many years working on the ocean in the aquaculture industry which he enjoyed until a serious back injury led to a permanent disability. A short while later he became a father to Destiny and bought his property in Earls Cove; both were his pride and joy. At this point his focus became raising Destiny, grooming his property and living amongst nature the best he could. And let’s not forget that hair- It takes work to maintain an epic mane like that especially into your 50’s! As a true nature and animal lover he was always busy tending to plants, pets, or doting on Destiny. He was a musician at heart; an incredibly talented guitar player who had a love for many genres and came from a long line of musically gifted family members. He truly appreciated music and favored Led Zeppelin amongst many others. Always fascinated by the world’s expansive mysteries of the unknown he developed a huge passion for reading pretty much EVERYTHING. He had a spiritual side and was also very intrigued by all the many possibilities we are surrounded by literally from space to the bottom of the sea and all that is between.
If there was one thing Bob was, that was compassionate towards any and all things living, no holds barred. And if there was another, well it would be a huge understatement to say he saw value in almost anything and everything. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder, and he had the ability to see beauty where others simply could not. He was also the self-appointed family historian, always committed to ensuring memories were physically preserved as he felt strongly, they should be. Although his family thought he lived a very quiet life, it seems he lived amongst quite a beautiful little close-knit community and was known by many whom have shared kind words and stories about times with him which has been a true blessing to hear.
Bob was truly a kind and gentle soul; a unique man with a good heart and a curiosity for this world seldom seen nor explored by others. Everyone who ever met him had a kind word to say, a loving father, a great brother, and a true friend to all walks of life. No matter the circumstance, you’d always leave with a story of something funny/heartwarming/crazy/zany/eccentric Bob said or did while you were with him because it could not be helped. It is just who he was; ‘a bird of a different feather’ free thinking and independent. He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his stories and quirky sense of humor.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Destiny, his brother Keith (Sara), sister in law Vanessa and many cousins, nieces and nephews
Bob spent years battling physical pain. He is now at peace, joining all his grand parents, his parents Gail and Keith, sister Debbie and brother Guy – That is one big jam session!
There will be a family celebration of Bob’s life at a later date. If you would like to do something in his memory build a little library box for your neighborhood, learn to play an instrument, plant something, adopt a pet, be open minded, be accepting, or just look for the beauty in the simplicity of this world and appreciate what you have – know that no matter what you choose to do to honor his life he will be happy knowing you have done something while thinking of him. As long as we carry on the memory of a person, they’re not really gone. Their thoughts, their feelings, their memories, they become a part of us.
“If my wings should fail me, Lord please meet me with another pair.” – Led Zeppelin
