It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Rita Bridgeman. Rita passed away peacefully on March 9th, 2021 age 83 years, surrounded by her loving family.
Predeceased by her husband Nicholas Bridgeman; Father Bernard White, Mother Catherine White; Step-Mother Anne White; Sister Madonna Wells; Brothers; Gerald White and Bernard White Jr; Son in Laws; Wilfred Ryan and Cyril Aylward Jr.
Leaving to mourn Rita’s passing are her loving and devoted children. Madonna MacDonald (Ignatius), Shirley Ryan (Terry), Maureen Aylward ( Cyril Pre-deceased), Patricia Ryan ( Wilfred Pre-deceased), Cynthia Byrne (Mike), Gary Bridgeman, Linda Daigle ( Shawn), Rita Walsh (David), Pauline Smith (Steven), Nicholas Bridgeman (Deanne), Lori Dowden (Bill St. Croix). Also left to mourn her passing are her 23 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren. To her Granddaughter Pamela Pawlinska, mom loved you like a daughter. You held a very special place in her heart. Her sisters; Nellie Mercer, and Eileen O’ Rielly. Brothers; Leo White and Len White.
Mom was born and raised on St. Brendan’s, Newfoundland. Where she met and Married her husband Nicholas (1957), and together they raised 11 children. Mom was the guiding light and rock of our family. She taught her family to face life’s challenges with kindness and strength. With a welcoming heart and a smile on her face she loved to enjoy a cup of tea, something sweet, and have a chat with her family, and all those who visited her home. A woman of faith she guided her family through tough times, with many prayers going to God for her family’s health and success in life. Although our lives are dimmer today by our profound loss, we have faith that she is lighting up the heavens.
A very special thank you to Father Jeff Kolonel for his frequent visits to help comfort Mom in his special way. To Dr. Phair, and his receptionist Judy, as well as the paramedicine program with Eastern Health for going above and beyond and treating Mom with kindness and respect during her illness. Thank-you to the St. Croix family for their kindness and support. A special thank-you to Ken and Yvonne Mercer, Warren Wells, Jim Mercer, Leo White, Eileen O’ Rielly and Betty O’ Rielly for their love and support during this hard time.
Our family wishes to express sincere gratitude and thanks to all those who have called, sent messages, or have reached out in any way with kindness, love, and support. Your thoughtfulness and kindness during this difficult time will not be forgotten.
Internment trusted to Oram’s Funeral Home. Resting at St. Gabriel’s Church, St. Brendan’s. Due to Covid-19 restrictions the funeral will be at Saturday March 13th at 11:00AM , by invitation only. Flowers graciously accepted or a donation to a local food bank in Mom’s name.
God saw you getting tired

In death we love you still
