Reverend Milton Forrest Dorman Tuesday June 15th 2021 avis de deces

Rev. Milton Forrest Dorman
After a lengthy illness, Rev. Milton Forrest Dorman died peacefully on June 15, 2021 in Toronto.
Milt is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Kelly Galbraith, and by his four children: Christopher, Clare (Paymon Tahershamsi), Lisa (Paul Onwubuke), and Benjamin. He is also survived by grandchildren Clement, Mobene, Celeste, Ruhiyyih, Thomas, Chidima, Obiajulu, Alexandria and Kaitlin as well as two great grandchildren, by loving in-laws Joanne Galbraith and Douglas Manning, and by ex-wife Martha Dorman. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Marian Dorman and by his brother Gordon.
Milt was born on January 8, 1935 in Montreal. After studying painting in art school, he felt the call to be an Anglican priest and proceeded to study theology at Trinity College in Toronto before being ordained to the Anglican priesthood in the early 60s. Upon graduation, Milton began over 50 years of ministry by moving to the Maritimes and serving the Magdalen Islands Mission (where he learned to fly a plane), Parish of Grand Manan (where he also worked as a Probation Officer and supply teacher), and Church of the Good Shepherd in Saint John. He then moved to Ontario where he served the parishes of Holy Trinity Thornhill and St. Peter’s Oshawa. In his “retirement” his ministry continued in a number of Interim appointments in parishes including St. Richard’s, St. Matthew’s, St. Agnes, St. Philip’s, St. Margaret’s, and Church of the Atonement. He is fondly remembered by his parishioners as a strong and unpretentious man who was a thoughtful preacher, a caring pastor, and a faithful servant of the Church.
Milt was also a true “renaissance man” with a wide range of interests including photography, classical music, stamp collecting, cacti, bird watching, languages (Japanese, French, Spanish, and Russian) and cooking international cuisine. He also enjoyed traveling, animals, and his annual summer visits to Coles Island in New Brunswick.
The family is very grateful to the staff of the Westbury Long Term Care Residence in Etobicoke for their excellent care; to the good folk of St. Matthew’s parish for their ongoing support, and especially to his dear friend, The Rev David Bousfield, for his faithful weekly visits.
A funeral service will in held at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, 3962 Bloor St. West, on Wednesday, June 23rd.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your charity of choice.
