Rene Joseph Germain August 12th 2021 avis de deces

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rene Joseph Germain on August 12th, 2021 in his 89th year. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grand-father and great-grandfather and will be missed by many. Beloved husband of Louise Ada Germain (dolci) for 63 years, loving father to Lori Lynn Germain and cherished grandfather to Sarah Lynn and Shane Michael and proud great-grandfather to Briar Violet. He was a great uncle and mentor to many. Born July 1, 1932 in North Bay, Ontario to Euclid and Emma Germain. Rene was the youngest of 4 children. Roy, Alfred, Jean (koski) all who are predeceased. He served 6 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Quebec and on Vancouver Island before meeting the love of his life Louise and marrying in 1959. Dad was a hard-working, inspiring and dedicated to his wife and family. Always having a positive outlook on life. He worked for 30 years for Falconbridge Nickel Mines in Levack, Ontario. Earning College degrees and becoming Manager Planner. After retiring he obtained his securities licence and became a Financial Planner in Sudbury, Ontario. Also, at that time he became a Big Brother which brought him much joy. Rene was an avid outdoors man, enjoying many years of fishing, golfing and skiing at his cottage in Northern Ontario with his father-in-law Fred Dolci and also 35 years in the Vernon sunshine. In 1987 relocating to Vernon, BC to be closer to his grandchildren and also where he enjoyed the Okanagan. He volunteered for the Kiwanis Society doing Community Service work and was the recipient of many awards for his kindness and compassion towards the less fortunate. Rene worked for Canadian Mental Health in Vernon, involved in building community homes and supporting many people as they transitioned into permanent housing. Rene loved being out around town in his car, offering a smile and a kind word to who ever needed it. He will be greatly missed. We wish to express our deep gratitude to the staff, care aids and nurses at the Hamlets at Vernon who showed so much kindness, care and compassion to Dad during his short stay. Celebration of Life to be announced. If you wish to send in memoriam, please send Donations to The Diabetes Association or Canadian Mental Health.
