REINHARD (Rye) HONIGMAN
December 13, 1943 – May 3, 2021.
Born in Eichdorf, Yugoslavia, Rye travelled with his parents, Frank and Julie Honigman, and siblings, Arnold, Irma, Erika and Addy through war-torn Europe arriving in Richmond, BC in 1948
Rye spent many wonderful years enjoying the outdoors, guiding, fishing, hunting and boating with his sons and other friends. His freezers were always fully stocked! He had a love for polka dancing, a talent for building and an entrepreneurial spirit which led him to many locations, from the far Canadian North to the Tropics of Fiji.
Rye was always putting his strong skills to the test from computer systems analyst, aviation, boxing and guiding to ostrich ranching and construction. He was very content in being busy and useful.
Rye passed away Monday, May 3, 2021, at VJH Polson Special while helping staff set up the gardens.
He is being reunited with his beloved dog and loyal companion, Jazmine. They are surely enjoying each other’s company after spending so many years together. Rye missed her immensely when she passed on.
Rye leaves behind to mourn, his sons: Gerry (Kara), Trevor (Terri), and Derek; his grandchildren: Meghan, Joshua, Alec, Elias, Julia and Vaughn; his former wife Gwen (Dennis), his brother Addy (Diane) and sister in law Maria, plus many nieces, nephews and friends.
We will miss him and his Rye sense of humour.
