Raymond Cooper Alexander
Alexander – Raymond Cooper Alexander, 1947 – 2021.
Passed away peacefully on May 11, 2021 at the Welland Hospital with his loving family at his bedside. Beloved husband and best friend of Susan (nee King) for 49 years. Loving father to Lisa and David. Dear brother and brother-in-law to Susan and Miki Szabo, Gloria Kingma, Harry and Carolyn Alexander, Barb and Garry Evans, Robert and Ann King, Jim and Lori King and all their families.
Ray was pre-deceased by his parents, Harry and Eva Alexander and by his brother-in-law, Arthur Kingma.
After attending Ryerson University, Toronto, Ray was hired as a lab analyst in the research station at the INCO plant in Port Colborne, worked his way up to Senior Plant Technician in the Cobalt plant from where he retired.
After building the family home Ray’s passion for woodworking continued throughout his lifetime as he created countless furniture items, clocks and lanterns. Ray was an avid golfer, chef and storyteller. He was a faithful and devoted parishioner of St. David’s Anglican Church, receiving the Order of Niagara for outstanding service to community and church.
His volunteer, community commitments included a leadership role at the local Habitat for Humanity organization and the Wainfleet Soccer Club.
Ray was a generous, caring man who loved nothing better than to gather together with his family and friends, prepare a banquet of delicious food for them, share recipes and tell humorous stories.
The Alexander family would like to thank everyone who has reached out with expressions of sympathy and condolence. Particular gratitude is extended to Dr. K. Janzen, Dr. C. Davis, Dr. N Khalidi, Dr. R. Maida and the many other dedicated, medical personnel who have attended to Ray over the past several years.
