Obituary
Peter Schmidt, age 64 years old, passed away in Creston on August 7, 2021. He was born on September 18, 1956 in Winkler, MB.
Pete spent his childhood in rural Manitoba, including Steinbach and Winkler. He learned to love nature and gardening on the family dairy farm. He was a lifelong avid reader and learner, freely sharing his thoughts about what he learned. Most of his adult life, Pete lived in Winnipeg and worked in industries where he served others, namely restaurants and driving cab and for the film industry. He was a loyal friend and cared deeply for his family and was well known for his generosity and support of the community. Pete moved to Okotoks AB in 2009 to be with family and care for his mother even when physical ailments plagued him. He spent his last years in idyllic Creston with his mother and siblings, enjoying the slower pace of valley life.
Pete is lovingly remembered by his mother, Maria Schmidt, his children Myrh-Rynn Letkeman and Lorian Letkeman, siblings, David (Terry) Schmidt, Kate (Marvin) Dueck, Jake (Laurie) Schmidt and Julie Schmidt and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his father, Isaac Schmidt.
A private burial and family celebration of life will be held.
