Patricia Dornan passed away on December 8, 2021. Pat was born to Jean and Ian Lyster in 1938, and grew up with her sisters Jeanie and Vicki in small communities along the CN Rail line in Southern Saskatchewan and Alberta where her father was employed. She attended most of her schooling in Youngstown, AB and later took her Certified Nursing Aid program in 1958. She worked in the Hanna Hospital before marrying Lawrence Dornan in 1962. They made their home at the Dornan family ranch in the Finnegan area. Pat and Lawrence had two children, Neil and Karyn and the family enjoyed country life and their close neighbors’ in the community. After moving to Brooks in the later years, Pat enjoyed volunteering for Senior’s Outreach, the United Church Women’s Association and the Mammogram Clinic in Brooks. She also enjoyed her garden, flowers and cooking. Pat is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lawrence Dornan of Brooks; son Neil Dornan (Crystal) of Finnegan, AB; daughter Karyn Dornan of Brooks; grandchildren Amanda and Jordan Armstrong of Red Deer, AB; sister-in-law Catherine Weins of Hanna, AB; brother-in law Elvio Volta of Olds, AB and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends. Pat was predeceased by her sisters Jeanie Becker and Vicki Volta. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, 2:00 pm at the Heritage Inn.
