Patricia Marcotte (Marentette)
Patricia Elizabeth Marcotte (Marentette) died January 7, 2021 after a long struggle against dementia. Born March 5, 1932 in Windsor Ontario to Joseph Alonzo and Louise Marentette (Chappus). Predeceased by her husband David Leo Marcotte. Survived by her children Michelle (Ken Vick) in Lewiston, NY; David (Ann Marcotte (McKeeman)) of Ottawa, ON; Ann (Don Beaudoin) of Victoria, BC; Karen (Andy Crichton) of Ottawa and Joan (James Bellaire) of Grimsby, ON. She leaves 11 grandchildren (Clare, Nathan, Lauren, Kyleigh, Erin, Adam, Michael, Celina, Bennett, Sarah and Ryan) and three great-grandchildren (Maxwell, Julia and Hannah). Also fondly remembered by the spouses of her grandchildren and step-grandchildren (Phil and Becky Crichton). Pat’s sisters-in-law Patricia Sinclair (Marcotte) and Liz Marcotte and her brother-in-law Phil Marcotte are the only surviving family members of her generation. Also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she took an interest in throughout her life. After graduating from St Mary’s High School and Windsor Business College, Pat worked as a comptometer operator at a bank in Detroit, Michigan until beginning her family. Literally a ‘happy homemaker’, Pat was lively, energetic and loved managing a busy home. Much of that work fell to her while Dave Marcotte and his brothers built a successful funeral home business in Windsor and Tecumseh, ON. She was close to her five sisters and three brothers, speaking to many of them every day. She prepared and cooked every meal for her family every day from scratch. Pat instilled independence in her children and strongly encouraged all of them to graduate from university. She maintained many friendships; some friends in Windsor will still remember her. Pat was a faithful Catholic all her life. While she and Dave were proud of their deep Windsor roots, in their later years they moved to Ottawa to be closer to their children. We acknowledge and sincerely thank the staff and management of Forest Hill – Omni Health Care in Kanata, ON whose communication and truly loving care was exemplary. There will be an interment and a celebration of her life in Windsor at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests supporting the Alzheimer Society of Canada in Pat’s memory.
