Pat passed away on the morning of Friday, May 28, 2021. She was born in Moose Jaw, SK on July 7, 1939, the fifth of ten children, born to Richard and Christina Dillen.
Pat graduated from Griffin High School as class valedictorian in 1957. Later that fall, Pat married Rollen Jones and together they began farming northeast of Weyburn. Pat also worked nights as the local telephone office.
With the arrival of three children, their family grew to five: Bryan (1959), Dennis (1961) and Wendy (1963). While farming, working at a new job at the Weyburn School Division and raising a young family, Pat enrolled in a two year correspondence program at the University of Regina where she earned a certificate in Government Administration in 1974. She worked initially as the Secretary Treasurer and later the Superintendent of Administration at the Weyburn Central School Division from June, 1972 to December 1999. After retiring in 1999, Pat served on the Saskatchewan Educational Boundary Commission for two years (1999-2001).
After both Pat and Rollen were fully retired, they purchased a 5th wheel trailer and began an adventure that included many summer travels exploring the prairie provinces. In 2007 they expanded their travels to include winter stays in Arizona.
Rollen passed away in 2014 and Pat continued her travelling experiences by flying to British Columbia to visit her sister, June Pass, where together they enjoyed many local adventures that often took them across the border into Washington.
Pat also remained active in her community by working as the book-keeper for Silver Heights Bible Church from 1985-2007 and Treasurer of the Bannerman Condo Board from 2016 to present. Pat always made time for the things she loved most: baking, hosting exceptional family dinners, walking with friends, visiting with family, taking aquasize classes and attending local concerts at the Cugnet Centre.
While enjoying life to its fullest, Pat endured years of physical challenges as well. She suffered Polyarthritis that resulted in spinal surgery in 2014 and an emergency hip replacement in 2017. More recently she suffered immensely, for several months, with undiagnosed metastasized cancer.
Despite the plethora of physical challenges, Pat persevered with incredible courage and extraordinary unwavering faith that has served as an inspiration to her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and paramedics at the Weyburn General Hospital for their excellent end of life care.
