Devoted and loving father of Francine and Irwin Estrada; Nadia and Luigi Paolini. Proud and adoring grandfather of Olivia Estrada, Alayna Paolini and Zachary Paolini.
Dear brother of Nicola and Maria Di Persio of Italy. Dear brother-in-law of Giuseppina and the late Antonio Di Paolo, Maria and the late Salvatore Magliaro, the late Franco Magliaro, Nino and Connie Magliaro.
Beloved son of the late Antonio and Francesca Di Persio. Beloved son-in-law of the late Raffaele and Dorinda Magliaro. Dear uncle of many nieces and a nephew in Canada and in Italy.
Pasquale’s life began on August 18, 1938, in the small town of Brittoli, Pescara, Italy. It was here that he lived with his parents, his brother, and his sister as a young boy. It was also in Brittoli that Pasquale came to know a young girl named Anna whom he would later marry and share a long and wonderful life together. As a teenager, Pasquale left home to learn the trade of carpentry and in his early twenties, he served in the Italian military. On August 20, 1961, Pasquale and Anna were married. A few months later they boarded the grand ship “Olympia”, to come to Canada looking for greater opportunities and to begin their life together. He would begin his life in Canada as a carpenter and then become a crane operator at Dofasco until he retired in 1992. Everything around our homes reminds us of Pasquale. He would keep busy perfecting his craft of carpentry by always creating something new. He was the ultimate handyman. There was nothing he couldn’t fix, and he took pride in his craft. He was always the perfectionist insisting on the exact measurements and the perfect finishes on all his home projects. He was a kind and gentle man who could carry on a conversation with anyone. He was a natural caregiver, always thinking of others before himself. He truly had a heart of gold and treasured all the times he spent surrounded by family. It gave him great pleasure working in his garden, getting to know his neighbours, taking pictures, or enjoying summer barbeques that would usually end with a game of bocce. He took pride in the friendships that he made throughout the years, and he never missed an opportunity to meet up with his retired work friends for coffee or breakfast. His grandchildren brought him the most joy. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for his grandchildren. He often taught them Italian songs and recounted stories from his youth. He was always ready to chauffeur them to any event and he willingly came to watch and support them in all their activities whether it was soccer, basketball, hockey, baseball, or any school function. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr Zbuk, Dr Robinson, and the nurses in C3 at the Juravinski Hospital for their compassionate care. A special thank you to the nurses at St. Joseph’s Home Care and to Dr. Di Paolo. Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton on Monday, December 20, 2021, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, 20 Idlewood Avenue, on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. Due to Covid restrictions Entombment will be limited to 25 immediate family members only.
