Oland Patrick Ramsay
1927-2021
Oland Patrick Ramsay, husband of the late Ida (Phee) Ramsay, passed away at the Miramichi Hospital on Sunday, March 21st at the age of 94. Oland was born in Newcastle, NB on March 6th, 1927. He was the son of the late Ben and Claire (Robichaud) Ramsay.
He worked in the federal department of accounting with Parks Canada for numerous years until his retirement, attended St. Michael’s Basilica, and was a member of both the Knights of Columbus (Newcastle), and the Royal Canadian Legion (Newcastle).
He is survived by his children, Elaine (Leigh Thompson), Judy (Bill Foran), Norman (Christine), Kevin (Cheryl), Richard (Shelley), Gary (Cathy), Patty (Kevin Jones), David, Carolyn, Paul (Cheryl), and Dan; 30 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. Oland is also survived by his brother, Gerald (Tillie), sisters: Hazel and Iona (Dennis).
He was predeceased by his wife, Ida (Phee) Ramsay; daughter, Marie; grandchildren: Bruce and Tracey Campbell; and great-granddaughter, Mya Brown. He was also predeceased by brothers: Norman, Erving, Bryon; and sisters: Millie Underhill, Rita Dolan, Julia English, and Ovilda Muzzerall.
Dad was a kind, thoughtful and generous person, well-loved by family and friends. He was always interested in hearing about the latest adventures of the grandkids and great-grandkids. In later years, he especially enjoyed family dinners, his visitors from PEI and his “Tuesday night card games” at Retirement Miramichi.
Oland’s family would like to thank Dr. Gerard Losier, and the nurses and staff of 3E and 4W for their professional and compassionate care.
No visitation will take place. A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica, Miramichi, on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 2 pm. Interment will be held in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
