1948-2021
Norman Joseph Gaudet, age 73, of Pennfield, NB, passed away
on July 30, 2021 at Bobby’s Hospice in Saint John, NB. Born in Little
Brook, NS, on May 16, 1948, a son of the late Daley and Marguerite
(Belliveau) Gaudet of Little Brook, NS.
He is survived by his wife Brenda (McGarrigle) Gaudet; a
daughter, Misty Gaudet (Saief) of Montreal, Quebec;
a son, Jason (Angie) Gaudet of Canal, NB; one brother Robert (Brenda)
Gaudet, Pennfield, NB; three sisters: Hilda (James) Doucet, Little
Brook, NS, Shirley (Charles) Grant, Hammond Plains, NS, and Doris
Quinn, Saulnierville, NS; his in-laws: Colin (Ruth) McGarrigle, Lorna
(Gorman) Harris, Mary Bustard, Frank (Noreen) McGarrigle and Coralee
(Rob) McBriar; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Norman was the very
proud papa of his grandson, Ben Gaudet, of Canal, NB.
Predeceased by his parents; one sister, Anita Hooper; two
brothers-in-law: Mike Quinn and Lorne « Sonny » McGarrigle;
nephews Chris McGarrigle and Jimmy Doucet; and one close cousin,
Victor Belliveau.
Norman left school at an early age to work on different
fishing boats: lobster, scallop, herring and draggers. On November 4,
1974, he moved to Blacks Harbour and worked for Connors Bros.,
Impress/Ardagh for 38 Years. In 1988, he was promoted to Shift
Supervisor until his retirement in 2011. On June 7, 1975, he married
the love of his life, Brenda McGarrigle. Norman served on the Blacks
Harbour Fire Department for 13 years. He was also a volunteer
ambulance driver for a number of years. In June 1979, Norman joined
the Blacks Harbour Police Department for approx. 11 years. He enjoyed
moose hunting with his best friend, Roger Paris, spending time on his
computer, listening to French Acadian music, going for long walks,
going to Tim Horton’s and spending good times with his family and
friends. Norman enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his
grandson Ben, who he loved so much.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home
(755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB. Visitation will be held
at the Wesleyan Church in Blacks Harbour on Monday, August 2nd, from
2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral service will be held from the Blacks Harbour
Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, August 3rd at 2 pm. Interment will be made
in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.
A special thanks to the nurses and staff of the NB
Extra-Mural program, Kindred Home Care, Bobby’s Hospice, Charlotte
County Cancer Society, St. George PharmaChoice, and Norman’s special
nurse, Lynn Tucker. Norman’s family will be forever grateful to our
wonderful families for all of their help and love. In Norman’s memory,
a donation to the Charlotte County Cancer or Bobby’s Hospice
would be appreciated by the family.
