Nick Hawreschuk
November 20, 1932 – May 17, 2021
It is with full confidence, but sadness, that the family of Nick Hawreschuk announces his passing to his eternal heavenly home on May 17, 2021 after a lengthy illness.
Nick was born in Domremy, SK on November 20, 1932, the oldest child of Mike and Bella Hawreschuk. When he was 14, the family relocated to the farm in the Crystal Springs area where he lived until October, 2019 when his health began to fail. At that time, he moved to Jubilee Lodge in Kinistino where he remained until his passing. Early in his adult life, he obtained his welding certificate and worked at various jobs including the PA Foundry, Burns Meats and Brandt Electric in Regina. In the late 1950’s, he moved back to the family farm where he continued to farm, first with his father and later with his sons. During this time, he also drove school bus for 19 years. In 2011, he rented out his land. In 1962, he married Nancy Fertuck and, to this union, five children were born. Together, Nick and Nancy spent many hours watching curling and Blue Jays baseball and enjoyed occasional travels. He was an avid hunter and went on fishing excursions from time to time. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Janet Semeniuk, brothers-in-law Edward Semeniuk, Alec Bajbula, Harry Buchkowsky and Charles Heald and sisters-in-law Deb Hawreschuk and Joyce Heald as well as his parents-in-law. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his daughter Sherri, his sons Rick (Nancy), Carmen (Tannis), Curtis (Charlynn) and Kevin (Nadine) as well as eleven biological grandchildren, their seven spouses and partners, three step-grandchildren, their spouses and partners and fifteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving him are his sisters Victoria (Dennis) Borsa and Sylvia Bajbula and his brother David Hawreschuk, his sister-in-law Florence Buchkowsky and brother-in-law Clarence (Audrey) Fertuck as well as numerous nephews, nieces and other extended family members. The family would like to thank the caring staffs of Jubilee Lodge, Kinistino and Kushneryk Funeral Service in Wakaw for their services. In lieu of flowers, donations to Jubilee Lodge or a charity of choice would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK, 306-233-4403.
