In Loving Memory Of
Nancy Bingham
In loving memory of Nancy Bingham (nee Laquerre), who passed away last year on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 51 years.
Nancy was born on November 8, 1968, in Daveluyville, Quebec, to Gerard and France Laquerre. She was the middle child of three children. At the age of eleven, the family moved to Grande Cache, where she resided until her passing.
She was blessed with three sons: Duane, Christopher and Dwight, whom she cherished immensely. On August 3, 2002, she met the love of her life, Jim Sidor, and together they became a blended family which also included Jim’s two daughters Julie and JayLynne; then followed by her biggest joys in life, her four grandchildren: Logan, Sapphire, Theodore and Amelia.
Nancy worked at the Dragon Palace Restaurant in Grande Cache for nineteen years, where she loved to chat with all the customers that came in and who she’d seen when she did deliveries when people ordered out.
She loved nature and the great outdoors. She was always out, either walking or hiking. She enjoyed hiking so much that she joined the Theamata Hiking Club in Grande Cache.
In May 2015, she had the thrill of her life when she climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. Hiking was nature’s gym for Nancy to get into great physical shape, and soon she started entering in the Grande Cache annual 125km running race, known as the Great Canadian Death Race. She ran in the race four times and then enjoyed being a volunteer for many years as well.
Even though she was a busy mom and Nana, she made sure to also enjoy what the world had to offer her. She travelled to England, France, Ireland, Arizona, and Las Vegas, then she got her motorbike, which was her prized possession, and she toured all over Alberta and British Columbia on it. She was so excited to travel to California and see a live taping of her favourite television show idol, Ellen DeGeneres.
She often stated that the best sleep she ever got was when she was sleeping in her tent under the stars. It was never surprising to see her sleeping in her tent, even in her own backyard.
When she had some spare time, she enjoyed reading all sorts of books, playing cards and crib, listening to music, and having her grandchildren spend as much time as possible at her home, which was affectionately known as “Nana’s Fun House.”
Nancy is sorely missed by her sister Chantel; brother Rene; life-long partner Jim; sons: Duane (Mellissa), Christopher (Coby) and Dwight; step-daughters Julie and JayLynne; and grandchildren: Logan, Sapphire, Theodore and Amelia.
She was predeceased by her parents Gerard and France Laquerre.
A year has passed with thoughts of you in our minds every day,
In every way you have been missed throughout these days and will be missed every day until our last breath is taken away.
– Jim
Sometimes I think of you and my heart aches with the thought “You’ve missed so much”. But then I remind myself that maybe I’ve got it all wrong, and you haven’t missed any of it at all. Maybe you just have a better bird’s eye view these days.
– Chantel
How can someone like you be gone? Forever reminded by things you’ve said and done. Missing you will never stop the pain, the boys you have raised so humble and strong, I don’t think they will ever share their pain. Thank you for everything you’ve done, so many hearts you have touched and all the tears you have wiped away. Your memory will never fade as you have made us all who we are today.
– Coby
