Nadia Stella Milko Jablonski Tuesday March 2nd 2021 avis de deces

MILKO (nee Jablonski), Nadia Stella
(December 3, 1935 – March 2, 2021) –
Nadia Milko, beloved wife, mother, sister and cherished Baba, passed away peacefully at home in Toronto on Tuesday March 2, 2021, surrounded by the family she loved.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 63 years, Walter; children Leanne (Brian) and Warren (Tania), brother Raymond and grandchildren Katie, Ian, Emily and Matthew. She is also mourned by her extended family and life-long close circle of friends from both west Toronto and Fort Myers Beach, Florida.
Born in Toronto to Steve Jablonski and Annie Turylo, Ukrainian immigrants who had come to Canada in search of a better life, Nadia attended Parkdale Collegiate and later the University of Toronto, where she graduated with a BSc. in Food Chemistry in 1956. She married Walter in November of 1958 and they eventually settled in Etobicoke, where she left her job at Allied Chemical in 1967 to raise her children.
A lover of music, she was an accomplished accordion player, and could often be seen in her earlier years entertaining with polka bands at the numerous Ukrainian weddings and parties around the city. When not up on stage, she was also a force to be reckoned with on the dance floor where she and Walter would whirl, hop and polka the night away.
Always at the core of Nadia’s being was her love of family. Nothing made her happier than to see everyone together at the many large gatherings she hosted with her children and grandchildren at home and around her dining room table. She was an excellent cook and baker, and her chocolate cake, cream puffs and lemon meringue pie will always be the stuff of family legend.
Some of the happiest times in Nadia’s life were vacationing at the family condo in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, where she enjoyed soaking up the sun on a lounge chair, dipping her toes in the pool and spending quality time with dear friends and family.
Nadia was a meticulous note taker, housekeeper and ironer. She loved gardening, playing card games and dominoes, juicy romance novels and long car rides. Throughout her life she brought happiness to those around her with her gentle kindness and generosity and she will be very much missed.
In his speech at their wedding reception, Walter announced to all the guests that he felt fortunate to have just married an angel. There is no doubt in his mind now that his angel has finally found her wings.
The family would like to thank the team of doctors, nurses and support workers at Trillium Hospital, the Mississauga Halton LHIN and the palliative care team at the Dorothy Ley Hospice, for caring for Nadia in her final days. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Chopra, nurses Peter, Anne and Ruby, and Samantha Pinto for their assistance and guidance.
Private funeral arrangements due to Covid-19 restrictions. Webcast Funeral will take place on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 1 p.m. The family plans on hosting a Celebration of Life gathering in Nadia’s memory at a later date, once Toronto Public Health restrictions are lifted.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made in Nadia’s memory to the Dorothy Ley Hospice or a charity close to your heart.
