Peacefully with his wife Sadie and daughter Cathy by his side, at LHSC – Victoria Hospital on Saturday, January 23, 2021 of Lucan, at the age of 78. Cherished husband of Sadie (Egan) Damen for 50 years. Proud father of the late Ron Damen (1995), and Cathy and Hiram O’Neil of Lucan. Adoring grandpa of Lilly, and Violet. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Anne and John Van Sas, Bert and the late Jeannine Damen, the late Tony and Carole Damen, Bill and Judy Damen, Harry and Sheila Damen, Mary and Doug Lee, Pat Egan, Jean Scheiring, the late Joan and the late Fern Gauthier, and Mary and the late Sandy McIntosh. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Bill and Maria Damen.
John was born and raised in Didam, The Netherlands, and at the age of 12, moved to Canada and eventually settled in 1953 on Highway 23 in Biddulph Township. John was a proud farmer all his life, but most of all, he enjoyed his time spent with his family.
A private family funeral service will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 27th at 11 AM with Father Ross Bartley presiding.
