Mildred Millie Boehk 1933 2021

Obituary of Mildred Boehk
It is with great sadness that the family of Mildred “Millie” Catherine (Sutherland) Boehk announces her sudden passing after a brief illness, with the same grace and elegance that she had throughout her life, on Monday, June 21, 2021 with her daughter Karen by her side.
Born in Dalhousie Mountain, Pictou County, January 30, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (MacKay) Sutherland. Mildred will be sadly missed by her daughter Karen, son-in-law Earle Carson, granddaughter, Karlee and grandson Matthew and chosen family Colleen (Mike) Richard and their children Nicholas and Emily.
Mildred’s grandchildren were her pride and joy, she loved watching them as they grew, even when they became taller than she was. She thrived on hearing of their accomplishments in school, activities and sports and cherished every visit and moment she spent with them. Mildred enjoyed cooking and baking and did this most days so that her grandchildren and their friends would have treats to enjoy. She loved family gatherings and holiday events. Each and everyone she was dressed to perfection and always matched for each occasion. Family was first and foremost in her life. She valued good friendships and lived each day to see what excitement would happen. Although tiny in stature she made up for in strength and resilience and could never be told that she could not do something. She loved life, had a heart of gold and she did not want to leave us.
Mildred worked for over 30 years in the Bank of Nova Scotia in various branches in Pictou County. The last being in Westville where she enjoyed talking with everyone who came in. Finishing her working career at her son-in-law’s dental clinic with the same attention to detail demonstrated in all that she did. She loved Westville and made this her home over fifty years ago when she met her husband Ronnie Boehk. She found comfort in attending Church and with her great neighbours and friends. A heartfelt thanks to Allen and Angie Naugler, Allen and Ramona Boehk, Lew Moser, Joan Hallam and Lloyd Sinclair, Doris Cullen and Margaret Edna Thompson and their families and her countless close friends. You are all forever in our hearts.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband of almost fifty years Ronald Godfrey Boehk, her brothers Hugh and Peter Sutherland and sister Caroline Ross.
She is survived by brother-in-law Carl Ross, sister-in laws Muriel and Bessie Sutherland. Nephews, Blaine (Mandy) Sutherland, Blair (Leah) Sutherland, David Sutherland, Kenny (Jocelyn) Sutherland and Nieces Gloria (Gordie) Reid, Pamela (Jack) Canning and Nancy Morash.
A special thank you to the sweet staff at Aberdeen Hospital that worked with my Mother and all the special people that touched her life.
Arrangements are under the care of Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Due to Covid restrictions visitation and funeral service will be held at a later date.
Donations in Mildred’s memory may be made to St. Paul United Church or a charity of your choice.
