Obituary of Michael Golding
Golding, David ‘Michael’ – Passed away peacefully at the Parkview Meadows Christian Retirement Village in Townsend Ontario on Friday, August 6th, 2021 in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Sharon (nee Richardson). Loving father of Joan Golding and Alan Golding. Cherished grandfather of Meagan Stoddard (Zach), Kyle Golding(Shannon)and Brendan Golding (Meagan). Beloved Great-grandfather of Ryder Stoddard. Loving brother of Rhoda Robb (Glenn). Beloved Father-in-law to Melanie Golding and Wayne Mercer. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Michael and his family emigrated from England in 1956 and worked on farms. Eventually they ended up near Brantford where Michael met Sharon who lived on a nearby farm. They were married in 1962.
Michael worked for over 33 years for Coca Cola. He greatly enjoyed his job and the team he worked with. He made friendships that lasted into retirement. His greatest accomplishment with Coca Cola was overseeing the installation of the vending and dispensing equipment at Canada’s Wonderland when it was built. He received letters of commendation from both Coca Cola and Canada’s Wonderland for his efforts.
Even early in life, Michael was interested in horology. Upon retirement, Michael joined the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. He enjoyed collecting and making clocks. Many friends and family have a clock made by him.
The family will always remember Michael for his love of fishing. Joan and Alan know how to bait a hook because of him.
Michael came from a farming family and he brought his love of animals to the city. There was a winter when we had a pigeon in the house that he found frozen into a puddle. The pigeon left in the spring and lived a long life (we hope). We also took care of a sick seagull by feeding it sardines. There wasn’t a time that we didn’t have pets in the house-dogs, cats, birds, fish, etc.
A private graveside service will be taking place. Arrangements are entrusted to the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue, Brantford, (519) 752-4331 tel:(519)20752-4331. Donations to the Norfolk General Hospital or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
A tree will be planted in memory of Michael in the Becket-Glaves Memorial Forest.
